3 Home Workouts to Keep You Active in the Fall — and Beyond

By Carolyn | September 11, 2020

With the first day of Fall right around the corner on Sept. 22, now marks the perfect time to start planning some changes to your normal routine. Dropping temperatures earlier sunsets may impact your workout plans — but there are some easy adjustments you can make to ensure you don’t fall behind.

Here are three of my favorite workout tips for the fall season:

  1. Find an at-home workout plan

Thanks to our current digital world, you can find a customizable workout to fit your schedule and needs at the tap of a thumb. Whether you prefer a written plan or a video-based series, you can easily scan the Internet, social media (particularly Instagram!) or YouTube and find something that works for you.

To get started here, I recommend you find a nice yoga mat or a set of exercise mats, a room with some space, and a nice speaker to keep you humming along. This one might seem obvious, but it’s great to have a plan in mind when the weather won’t allow you to get outside or when you want to get a quick sweat in without leaving the house.

  1. Trail running/biking

There are plenty of trails and parks in Austin worth exploring by foot or by bike. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but many people find running outside to be far superior to running on a treadmill or other indoor-based piece of workout equipment.

While the weather will cool down over the next few months, there will be plenty of days in the 60s and 70s that are, for me, just perfect for a nice jog or bike ride. The crisp air is rejuvenating, and the change of scenery provides the perfect backdrop and inspiration to help revitalize your mind and soul, too.

  1. Outdoor Yoga

Like trail running and biking, outdoor yoga actually takes advantage of and highlights the dropping temperatures and Fall scenery. A golden hour sunset in the Fall is downright gorgeous, and it will complement your yoga flow perfectly on every level.

Yoga is excellent both physically and spiritually, and taking it outdoors during the fall only kicks it up a notch. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
