3 Outdoor Summer Camp Ideas for Kids in Austin

By Carolyn | May 14, 2021

Got summer plans for your kids?

The first day of summer is approaching, meaning now is the time to explore summer activities, camps, and trips for your children. Do your research and planning now so that things go smoothly later!

One of the best ways for a child to create lasting memories, gain skills, and have fun along the way is at a summer camp. Around Austin, there are dozens of summer camps with various themes and activities. If your child likes the outdoors, you’ll have no problem finding the right spot for them. If they’re more into art and music, there’s plenty for them, too.

Here are three of our personal favorites, all dedicated to keeping your child safe and happy while also placing a priority on safety as we continue to face the COVID-19 pandemic.

  1. Camp Champions | 775 Camp Rd, Marble Falls, TX 78654

Located just over an hour from Austin, Camp Champions is one of the state’s most popular summer camps for kids — and for good reason.

But let’s start with this: According to Camp Champions, they remained open for nine weeks in 2020 and reported zero COVID-19 cases during that time. So safety is paramount for them.

Camp Champions is designed for boys and girls ages 5 – 18, providing fun and games such as swimming and climbing while also focusing on building values and character. Camp Champions is built around their “Four R’s:” Responsibility, Respect, Reaching Out, and Reasonable Risks.

While Camp Champions is not an inexpensive option, it is one of the premier summer camps for children in the state. You can contact Camp Champions here to explore options and availability.

  1. KidzToPros | Multiple Locations

KidzToPros is another appealing summer camp option for kids in and around Austin. This nationwide program boasts campuses across the state, with facilities in Dallas, Austin, Houston, and Fort Worth. In Austin, you can find six KidzToPros campuses

Better yet, KidzToPros breaks down its enrollment into age groups, providing curriculums for:

  • Pre-K to Kindergarten (ages 4 – 6)
  • Grades 1 to 2 (ages 6 – 8)
  • Grades 2 to 5 (ages 7 – 11)
  • Grades 5 to 8 (ages 10 to 14)

Activities vary depending on the age bracket, and KidzToPros provides everything from coding to graphic design and much more, so poke around the site to see what’s best for your child or children.

  1. Art Academy | Multiple Locations

The Art Academy is sure to satisfy the aspiring artist in your family. With multiple locations throughout Austin, the Art Academy can keep your child close to home while giving him or her the resources, teaching, and encouragement needed to dive deeper into their passion for art.

With an eight-person-per-class limit set up and a priority placed on sanitation and cleanliness, the Art Academy takes every precaution necessary to keep your child healthy and happy.

Here’s where the Art Academy really stands out, though: They offer virtual camps. Leave it to the artists to think outside the box, right?

Whether your child prefers in-person or online, the Art Academy has you covered this summer. Learn more and contact them right here
